Jen's Quest for Health

I put on over forty pounds over the course of about 3-5 years.  I went from 134 lbs to 176 lbs.  It all stemmed from stress and health issues.  I eliminated a good portion of the stress then addressed my health issues with having a long overdue surgery.

Upon healing from the surgery, I was referred to HorizonView Health by a dear friend.  I made an appointment and was so surprised by how encompassing Dr. Baker and his staff were. I met with his lovely wife, Mary, who is a great health, fitness and life coach.  She’s friendly and you truly get a sense of how much she cares for each patient.  I then met with Adriana, one of the clinics registered dietitians, who helped me get on track with my eating.  I had been diligent with tracking my food on MyFitnessPal but still wasn’t seeing the scale budge.  She patiently showed me how to count my macros and slowly the weight peeled off.  Dr. Baker is so kind and encouraging; it would be difficult to not succeed in that environment.  My energy levels picked up and everything started to come together.

I am fortunate in that I have a husband who loves being fit and loves lifting weights.  Even through COVID, we worked out at least five times a week.  I have seen my body change and can feel myself getting stronger.  Although I haven’t seen a significant drop in weight, I’ve lost close to 20lbs since March and have dropped 6 body fat percentage points.  For the first time in a long time, I have a positive body image and I’m not consumed with “not being able to eat this” or “I can’t eat that.”  I feel and look great and I’m a good example for my kids!  My weight is down to 158-160 lbs and I’ve dropped two pants sizes.  I reached a personal record lifting and was able to bench press 125 lbs this week!   Life is good and got better in part to HorizonView Health!

I want to thank everyone there at HorizonView Health for their support and encouragement.  The staff goes above and beyond and I’d highly recommend making an appointment if you’re struggling with weight gain/weight loss.
